![]() Finally to get all my messages back into the right place (I had recreated the lost account with the same name) I just opened the imported inbox selected all the messages and dragged and dropped them into the inbox for the account where they needed to be. I booted my computer from a USB hard drive that had a copy of my system installed on it. I downloaded and installed the Data Rescue II software on the USB hard drive. The quick scan did not find anything, but I ran the Deleted File tool and after about an hour found all of my deleted e-mail. It was exactly where pixelgun said it would be. I saved it and rebooted on my internal hard drive and found my INBOX.mbox file in the mail folder in the Library section and option dragged it to my desktop. I copied the messages into the message folder in the copied inbox and imported it into the mail program. Worked like a charm! Got everything back! I feel sorry for the guy that spent months trying to recover his messages, but I really don't know why he had problems. I'm new to Mac and have only been using one for a couple of weeks. Maybe my understanding of file structures from years of cumbersome PC use paid off in being able to locate the messages.Īmen. That has always been my contention with macs. #Filesalvage information software#īut even if you know your stuff, a lot of the software is limited to NOT allow for repair.Īllow me to disagree completely completely with both of you. ![]() I work with Windows and Macs and feel no "oppression" at all. Operating systems whether Windows, Macs, Linux, whatever are increasingly complex and no single person has every answer for every situation.Įverybody comes up against situations they have no experience with. They seek a solution from those with experience they don't have (i.e. Spiceworks!) and learn from the experience of others becoming a resource in that scenario in the future. Look at how many threads are out here in our community. You have been there with Windows as well, seeking information you had no experience with. And when you're done, you'll know the tools and steps to recover said emails. If you're running POP make sure save emails on server is checked.Once you've successfully (or not) completed your quest you will have learned many lessons that will aid you in the future. ![]() I went to school for this Mac Advanced school to be precise and for 5 days 8 hours a day. I support many MAC users and have only ever had one bad Vid card and one System board ever go bad. The first iMac all in one CRT's were the only other issue with the power button and that was on a Apple recall. I still have G4 OSX servers running from 2000. I have taken the iMac CRT and torn it apart and created a 1U rack mount server with iRack.
